Maja and Winter's Tail
Maja Kazazic plays with Winter the dolphin, featured in the film "A Dolphin's Tale," in Clearwater Beach, Fla. on June 23, 2009. Winter is missing her tail and sometimes swims with a prosthetic. Kazazic always dreamed of swimming with the dolphins. She grew up in Mostar, Bosnia, and when she was five years old her young cousin, who loved dolphins, died of Leukemia. Maja was devastated. As they sprinkled her cousin's ashes over the Adriatic Maja made two promises: she vowed to grow her hair as long as possible and donate it to "Locks of Love" and she vowed to swim with the dolphins. In 1993, during the bloody war in Bosnia, Kazazic lost her leg in a bomb blast that killed all six of her friends.
